Description

What is the Pain Management Programme?

The Pain Management Programme (PMP) is a group-based program led by expert clinicians, including a psychologist, nurse, and physiotherapist. They provide current information on pain science and practical strategies for managing pain. The program's goal is to introduce various pain management techniques for day-to-day use and create a supportive environment for veterans to share their experiences and receive support from fellow group members.

People with persistent pain often feel isolated and uncertain about planning for the future. The program addresses these issues and more to minimize the negative impact of pain. Family and friends are encouraged to attend one of the midway program days to better understand persistent pain and the program's activities, although specific discussions within the program remain confidential.

The program is a ten-day virtual program spread over nine months, conducted on Zoom. It covers the same content as the previous in-person program, eliminating the need for travel to London. The pain management team collaborates closely with the group, tailoring educational and practical sessions to meet each group's specific needs.
