Waterloo Uncovered is the groundbreaking charity combining a world-class archaeological project on the Waterloo battlefield with expert veteran care and recovery. Each year we continue to grow and expand our scope of work, all while using archaeology as our primary tool to improve the wellbeing, education and recovery of veterans and serving personnel, many of whom have experienced mental or physical impacts from their service.
Since 2015 we have been uncovering the archaeological secrets of Waterloo while helping veterans and serving personnel recover from the traumas of war.
To date, we've discovered over 7000 archaeological finds and supported more than 350 veterans from the UK, Netherlands, Ukraine, Belgium and beyond.
There is still plenty more work to be done - and we can't do it without your support.
Excavation
Our flagship programmes includes two weeks of digging on the site of the world's most famous land battle.
Finds
This hybrid programme teaches veterans key post-excavation skills through finds handling sessions and workshops.
Battlefields Uncovered
An online educational programme exploring conflict archaeology, providing veterans with academic credits.
Waterloo Uncovered supports the armed forces community by combining archaeology with psychological and social support. It engages veterans in excavating the battlefield of Waterloo, fostering camaraderie and aiding mental health through meaningful activities.
