We want every bereaved military child to have:
- access to the very best emotional support;
- outstanding development opportunities; and
- the chance to smile again.
At Scotty's, we aim to provide relief from the effects of bereavement to children and young people who have experienced the death of a parent who served in the British Forces.
Any child or young person aged 0-25 bereaved of a parent who has served in the British Forces can potentially join Scotty’s Little Soldiers.
Scotty's support any service, including Army, RAF, Navy, Regular or Reserve and the cause of death is irrelevant (KIA, illness, accident, suicide, other).
We try and support as many children and young people as possible.
The charity provides its beneficiaries with support and guidance throughout their childhood.
This support is delivered through our three family Programmes, SMILES, SUPPORT, STRIDES.
Our services include; access to professional child bereavement support, guidance to parents and carers, personal education and learning assistance (including grants) and fun activities such as holiday respite breaks and group events. These are all designed to remind the children and young people that they are not alone.
As well as offering bereavement support, our ethos is very much based around beneficiaries embracing their military connections and being part of a community that recognises the significant highs and lows of family life in the military.
