NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde are piloting a new approach to their Healthcare Support Worker Academy for people who are interested in working in an Acute Hospital or Mental Health environment. This programme is for people who are not currently in employment, education or training AND are registered with DWP. This programme is classed as a Sector Based Work Academy Programme in partnership with DWP and is unpaid. Further details about support is provided at the link.
This programme is scheduled to begin in May 2024 and they are currently inviting candidates to register their interest.
Healthcare Support Workers are valued members of our Nursing Family who work in our hospital and community-based teams delivering hands on care and support to our patients.
By the end of the programme trainees will have had the benefit of NHS training in key areas, have obtained Scottish Moving and Handling Passport and completed a 3 week ward based placement to put their training into practice and test out if the role of a Healthcare Support worker is for them.
Successful completion of this programme guarantees that you will be interviewed for a suitable permanent Healthcare Support Worker vacancy across our NHS GGC Board Area aligned to your training.

This is an
unpaid training programme however trainees registered with the DWP or who are eligible to register with one of our Employability partners will receive support for travel and other programme expenses for the duration of the programme.
