About BAE Systems Plc

BAE Systems is one of the world’s largest defence companies with over 85,000 people delivering advanced technology solutions for customers globally.

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Community

As a leading global defence, security and aerospace company, BAE Systems provides advanced technology solutions protecting assets worldwide. Re-signing the UK Armed Forces Covenant in 2021, BAE Systems remains committed to employing service leavers, with around 2,000 veterans among its current UK workforce.

Keen to recruit more veterans, BAE Systems appreciates the unique perspective and military knowledge they contribute. Experience with operations and requirements directly informs BAE's delivery of products and services. Veterans' teamwork, dedication and commitment are also highly valued. Roles suiting service leavers include cyber security, analysis and manufacturing. Mentors provide coaching to help veterans build new skills.

Supporting reservist employees is another key element of BAE Systems' Covenant pledge. The company allows an extra 15 days of leave for training obligations, employing over 130 reservists in the UK - the second highest among Gold Award winners.

VetNet, BAE Systems' 500+ member veteran and reservist employee network, delivers wide-ranging support. Members share experiences and access mentoring. Activities include webinars on wellbeing and podcasts on military topics, bringing awareness across the company through newsletters.

VetNet aids recruitment by attending Career Transition Partnership fairs, advising service leavers on translating military skills and experience into BAE Systems roles. This has helped position BAE Systems as an employer of choice for veterans, hiring an average of one per day.

Additional outreach includes fireside chats and podcasts on leadership, sports, and "day in the life" themes. By understanding military needs and challenges, VetNet has nurtured a community with deep customer insights.

With its commitment to hire and support veterans, along with networks like VetNet that foster military-friendly culture, BAE Systems provides an excellent environment for service leavers to continue serving by delivering vital defence technologies and solutions.
