Our railway has a proud history of supporting the Armed Forces. We moved soldiers across the English Chanel from Dover in WW1 and returned wounded soldiers via our trains. In World War 2, our railway brought members of the BEF back from Dunkirk. Today, we employ over 100 Veterans, Reservists and other members of the Armed Forces Community across all of our roles, offices, stations and depots. We have an active Armed Forces Network and are the custodians of Remembrance at our 100 year old War Memorial in Dover.
Our key pledge within our Armed Forces Covenant was to establish a guaranteed interview scheme for members of the Armed Forces community. This applies only to eligible roles. On our application, just tell us that you are serving or have served. We will do the rest. This means that, for example, a current serving soldier in the north of England can apply for our geographically restricted Train Driver roles provided that they intend to move to within travelling distance of the depot they apply for in time to start their Driver training.
