About IBM

IBM provides integrated technology services combining hybrid cloud, digital transformation, industry capabilities and professional expertise from operating in over 175 countries globally.

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Community

As one of the world's largest technology companies, IBM brings together solutions to help businesses solve problems. IBM has enabled veteran contributions to IT advancement since the 1930s.

Thomas Watson Jr., IBM's impactful post-WWII CEO, was an Army pilot who recognized veterans' value early on, proving military officers can become great executives. IBM's longstanding veteran support reflects his vision.

With over 150 veterans in its UK workforce, IBM established a Military Service Network in 2009 as part of its diversity policy. The network of veterans, reservists, spouses and cadet volunteers provides mentoring for new employees. A steering group of primarily veterans oversees activities.

A 2015 'skills retraining' partnership with SaluteMyJob delivers free cybersecurity and career training to service leavers, with 75% finding jobs. IBM has hired trainees, promoting them as case studies. Ex-Gurkha Men Gurung used the program to transition to cybersecurity at IBM after years in personal security.

IBM's network keeps veterans connected through online articles about deployments. Mentoring aids new hires' transition. The steering group ensures governance and strategic alignment. Partnerships enable valuable skills training and hiring opportunities.

With its longtime commitment to veterans since the founders' era, IBM continues to provide an innovative environment where veterans' talents propel leading-edge technologies and solutions that transform business and society.
