Course Summary
The AI course delivered by Abertay University develops students’ knowledge of basic concepts and theories in Artificial Intelligence with an appreciation of their advantages and disadvantages in various application domains. It further uses practical application of Python coding to apply ML / AI techniques in solving real-world problems.
Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to: describe key technological developments in AI; understand supervised and unsupervised learning; evaluate the relationship between training and test data in supervised learning; implement clustering techniques; implement basic and multilayer Artificial Neural Networks; explore and explain AI ethics considerations.
Course Outline
Material studied includes a history of AI, its development and technological concepts, and the practical implementation of Machine Learning using Python code to manipulate datasets.
The course is underpinned by a Python coding module taken before starting, and assumes no prior knowledge.
Costs
The programme is free to learners and fully remote.
Learning
Pre-course learning is provided on registration and requires around 25 hours in total. During the Abertay-led course (8 weeks) you will study around 20 hours each week. Participation in online webinars is optional.
Who is it for?
The course is aimed at members of the Armed Forces community seeking knowledge and employment in a range of cyber roles including Data Analytics, AI and Machine Learning Research and Development, and Business Analysis.
Assessments and Certification
Students will be awarded 15 academic credits on completion of the course. There is no exam as part of the Abertay course; standards will be measured through coursework and a final submission paper.
What happens once I’ve completed the training?
Once you have gained the knowledge, skills and professional certification the next step for many people will be to apply that learning in a practical and commercial environment. SaluteMyJob is working with a number of employer partners to search for paid work placement opportunities or, if you already have the relevant experience, employment into permanent roles.
