Visit The Black Watch Regimental Museum
Description
Immerse yourself in the extraordinary history of The Black Watch. From its formation in 1739 to the amalgamation of the Regiment in 2006 The Black Watch has played many pivotal roles in our military history. From its early years keeping “watch” over the highlands to the French Wars, Empire, the First and Second World Wars and more recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, the regiment has witnessed and contributed to many key moments in World history. A visit to The Black Watch Museum brings those moments of history to life.
We offer two ticket types, a day ticket where you are free to roam the museum as you please, or one of our daily guided tours, which is the best way to experience the Museum. Each tour begins with an introduction to the Black Watch and an overview of its extraordinary role in history and introduces some of the regiments key icons – the Red Hackle, The Title, The Tartan and The Badge. Our knowledgable guide will then accompany you through our history galleries – each of which will immerse you in a different stage of the Regiment’s history – from formation right up to the present day. Along the way we’ll introduce you to the soldiers and tell you their incredible stories through their own words and the objects and artefacts they carried with them.
