ER Advisor (Maternity Leave Cover)
Location: home based with hybrid working and the need to occasionally travel to sites across the Municipal Business as required.
Hours - full- time 40 hours but open to a discussion around working pattern / days.
Duration: 10-12 month Fixed Term Contract

What you'll be doing:
We are currently seeking an interim Employee Relations Advisor to join our Municipal ER team to cover a period of Maternity Leave. As the successful candidate, you'll provide crucial support and guidance to line managers on a range of employee relations matters in particular on Sickness Absence Management and lower level ER Case work. Working closely with the ER Specialist's in Municipal Buisness you will work collaboratively to support a reduction in absence levels, reducing overall costs, utilising data and insights to inform your work. In addition, you will advise line managers on first stage ER Case work helping them to bring cases to a positive conclusion.
In this role, you'll utilise your analytical skills and emotional intelligence to provide advice and practical solutions on ER matters. You'll be responsible for a range of ER activities, including investigations, disciplinary processes, grievances, and capability issues. You will have oversight of all absence management across the Municipal Buisness and will be crucial in monitoring and addressing attendance levels. You'll work closely with managers to develop their capability in handling ER matters, encouraging early and informal resolution of problems. Your commercial awareness will be essential in making balanced decisions that benefit both employees and the business.

What we're looking for:
- Previous Advisory experience ideally within a HR Shared Services or HR Helpdesk/ Advisory environment.
- Experience of ER matters in the workplace and best practice approach to solutions.
- Experience of advising and guiding managers on policy and best practice in a HR Setting.
- Have a CIPD level 5 qualification and a commitment to professional development.
- Experience of working to tight and varied deadlines in a pressured environment requiring real time customer support
- Strong time management and efficient working practices with the ability to work off own initiative with minimal support with the ability to self motivate
- Be able to advise and guide line managers on policy and process on a range of people matters.
- Experience of note taking at disciplinary and grievance meetings.
- This post may require occasional travel across the business and for team meetings/ training so flexibility will be required.
We are looking to attract the right candidate for this role and therefore, full training and a development plan will be provided for the right candidate during the period of the maternity leave cover.
The vacancy will be available in late June (TBC) and will run for approximately 10-12 months.
