Student Information Services - Data Protection Manager
DN Colleges Group is looking to employ a Data Protection Manager to work across the group.
Reporting to the Director of Student Information Services, the successful candidate will perform a leading role with responsibility in maintaining oversight and developing the management of personal information held by the college; supporting and promoting adherence to information legislation and providing guidance across a range of related activities; they will have a key involvement in the management of high impact incidents involving personal data.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing professional and specialist advice, guidance, and leadership in matters of data protection and all aspects relating to the governance and security of personal information.
- Working proactively as a subject matter expert, including sharing knowledge and expertise with relation to:
- Data sharing agreements
- Data protection impact assessments
- Coordination of the day-to-day request/response processes for information requests made via:
- DSARs (Data Subject Access Requests)
- Personal data breaches and/or data incidents
- Freedom of Information requests
- Maintaining the register of requests/incidents and monitoring progress and compliance with specified timeframes.
- Conducting quality and compliance checks of personal information and processes.
- Supporting colleagues where appropriate.
- Production of reports to senior leaders and governors.
The suitable candidate will:
- Have a current working knowledge and understanding of relevant information legislation, including:
- UK GDPR
- Data Protection Act 2018
- Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations
- Freedom of Information Act 2000
- Experience and knowledge to:
- Recognise and advise upon the potential impacts of relevant information legislation on the college's existing and emerging information systems, projects, and processes
- Ability to communicate facts and ideas to a range of audiences and people at all levels in an engaging and informative way
A professional qualification in information governance is desirable.
