At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Fleet Engineering Production Manager to lead and manage the Delivery Manager (Afloat) team within our Fleet Engineering Department to meet safety, quality, time and cost targets.
The role
As Fleet Engineering Production Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you'll be key to the business at an exciting time of growth and investment in our manufacturing and production facilities and resources
.
Day to day, you will be a key player supporting the Head of Fleet Engineering's Deputy in managing the delivery and growth of Fleet Engineering projects.
Key duties include:
- Leading on Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality within the wider Fleet Engineering Team & implementation of the Company policies in the Marine Engineering area of the business ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices.
- Agreeing department objectives and targets with the Head of Fleet Engineering and once set, managing these through to successful completion.
- Champion process, technical and business improvement using continuous improvement techniques to accelerate delivery in key business areas. Includes measuring Departmental performance and adoption of best practice by the introduction of innovative technological solutions.
- Ensuring that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company's cost, time and quality requirements
- Lead and motivate all Fleet Engineering Support staff to deliver the main objective and purpose.
Essential experience of the Fleet Engineering Production Manager:
- Proven experience leading the output of multi discsiplinary production and fabrication teams, gained ideally within a similar manufacturing operations leadership or programme level role
- Experience of the delivery of engineering and technical production capabilities within a complex organisation - we would welcome applications from high integrity sectors such as Aviation, Defence, Marine, Oil & Gas, Rail or similar
- A leader who can inspire, motivate and deliver cultural change and best practice solutions to a diverse work group
- Commercial acumen, budgetary control experience
- Passionate about the continuing professional development of resources and ensuring quality of output at all times
37.5 hour working week. Full time
Qualifications for the Fleet Engineering Production Manager:
- HND or equivalent in a relevant Engineering Discipline e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Welding / Fabrication, Nuclear, Marine, Aviation etc
- NEBOSH, IOSH or similar would be desirable
- Any Project Management certifications would be advantageous but not essential

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC clearance level for this role
