About the role
Join Dorset Travel as a Casual Passenger Assistant - Term Time Only, £12.26/hour
Dorset Travel, established in 2008, coordinates safe and reliable transport for thousands of residents across the county. From home-to-school transport for children with additional needs to services for adult day centre visitors and the wider public, we play a key role in helping people get where they need to be.
We're now looking for Casual Passenger Assistants across Dorset-especially in Weymouth, Dorchester and Blandford-to support children and young people with additional needs on their journey to and from school. These roles are on a term-time only basis with flexible, part-time hours, starting from £12.26 per hour.
As a Passenger Assistant, you'll travel on council-arranged transport (either shared or one-to-one) ensuring each child is supported and safe during the journey. You'll be caring, patient and dependable, with an understanding of the needs of children and young people with additional needs.
You'll need to be available during both school pick-up and drop-off times, with all leave taken during school holidays. A background or interest in SEND, safeguarding awareness, and the ability to spot and report hazards would be helpful.
This is an active role-so physical fitness is essential-as you may need to assist passengers with lifting, mobility and care as needed.
Make a difference on every journey. Apply now to join our dedicated Dorset Travel team.
