Lancashire Constabulary is committed to providing a professional and effective service to the community. We are currently looking for a dedicated Finance Assistant to join our Financial Accounting Team and play a key role in supporting the effective management of our financial resources.
As a Finance Assistant, you will assist the accountant in monitoring and maintaining a range of budgets. You will be involved in various aspects of financial administration, including the treatment of external funding and grants.
A typical day is never the same, it can range from taking payments from customers, to dealing with officer/staff enquiries in relation to force policies and procedures. The post has a vast range of tasks associated with it and it is critical you can make informed decisions in order to provide the best service to our officers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain the forces credit management, in line with force policy and procedures.
- Assist the accountant in the completion of month end processes including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, recharges and other transactions.
- Assist the accountant in preparing departmental costings, including budgeted posts and investigating budget variances.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts, including ensuring budgets are entered correctly onto the financial information system in line with the agreed timetable with guidance from the accountant.

Skills and Experience:
Applicants will have to undergo an Assessment if successful at shortlisting.
There is an option to complete the AAT under the apprenticeship scheme.
Vetting and Medical:
Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting prior to commencing their role. You will also be subject to a medical assessment.
Please note, candidates successful at shortlisting will be required to undertake an assessment as part of the interview process.
