A leading spaceflight consultancy delivering comprehensive services in all areas of space industry development.

Summary:

Responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team of a consultancy specialising in spaceflight. The successful candidate will take the lead in delivering technical excellence, driving project success, and mentoring a team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background from the space sector within a senior technical or programmatic role, and experience in leadership and managing teams.

Experience & Skills

 Extensive experience working within the space industry. Holding a senior technical or programmatic role (preferred launch service, launch site/spaceport, satellite manufacture and or operations, range control services) 
 Experience of operating within the spaceflight value chain, engaging with customers and suppliers
 Experience of working for/with national space agencies and regulations
 Experience working with system engineering principles
 Excellent communication and presentation skills
 Ability to work independently and as part of a team
 Ability to work across a diverse set of projects
 Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and expertise in  the global space sector, spaceflight operations, launch campaigns, from a technical, operational and commercial perspective
 Review and approve project documentation, including designs, specifications, and calculations
 Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth
 Act as the primary technical liaison between the company and its clients
 Understand and translate customer requirements into project scope, milestones and deliverables
 Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, technical presentations, and client pitches
 Identify opportunities for new services, market and income streams that add value to the company and it’s clients.
 Stay up-to-date on the latest spaceflight industry trends
 Deputise for the CEO when required
 Represent the company at conferences, workshops, and other industry events
 Occasional travel within the UK and internationally
