Description
The Military Project, managed by the Cruse Military Family Project, is a specialised initiative dedicated to offering bereavement care training to veterans who have experienced the loss of fellow veterans. Originally funded by the Libour Fund, administered by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund, this project received additional funding from the same source to extend its operations until July 2023.
What We Do:
- The project supports bereaved veterans by providing training in coping skills for grief and shock, offering relevant advice, and boosting confidence.
- The objective is to help veterans understand the grieving process and its impact on those left behind.
- The project aims to empower veterans to offer support to other bereaved veterans and the families of those who died in service.
- Immediate support is also offered to veterans and their families.
How We Do It:
- The project assists any veteran who seeks their help.
- Training sessions are conducted via Zoom.
- Training is tailored to the veteran's existing knowledge of bereavement. For those with experience, it aims to enhance their grief support toolkit. For newcomers to bereavement, the focus is on building confidence and improving their ability to assist and communicate with bereaved individuals.
