Description
Veterans make up approximately 5% of the UK prison population, and as a current or former member of the Armed Forces community, we offer assistance during this challenging time.
The VCJS Support Service is here to help all members of the Armed Forces community involved in the Criminal Justice System, including their families. This support extends to serving and former personnel, reservists, National Service veterans, and those who have received at least one day's pay from the Army, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, or the Royal Air Force.
Our SSAFA in-reach volunteers are trained to work within the Criminal Justice System and can visit clients in prison to assess their needs. We provide emotional and practical advice throughout their sentence and post-release, including help with accommodation, clothing, benefits claims, and employment.
If you or someone you know is currently serving a custodial or community sentence, SSAFA may be able to assist. You can contact us through your local SSAFA Regional Hub, SSAFA branch, or by calling Forcesline.
We offer comprehensive and non-judgmental support, regardless of the situation. Please explore our other pages for information on how we support families and contact details for other organisations that can provide assistance.
