The role
As a Quality Control Manager Structural T31, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The Quality Control Manager Structural T31 is responsible for supporting Babcock Marine UK Shipbuilding quality strategy, ensuring that all products and services meet established quality standards and customer expectations.
Day-to-day, you'll oversee all quality control and quality assurance aspects of structural completion and non-destructive examination (NDE) for the T31 Programme. This role will ensure compliance with Lloyd's Register Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Naval Ships and relevant IACS standards. You will also:
- Manage the planning and execution of NDE activities, ensuring techniques used are appropriate and in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with certified NDE personnel to ensure inspections are performed accurately and efficiently.
- Review and analyse NDE results, recommending corrective actions as required.
- Recognise and maintain certification requirements of NDE Inspectors.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality control plan that complies with Lloyd's and relevant IACS standards.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Quality Control Manager Structural T31
- Proven experience in quality control or assurance within relevant industry, e.g., naval, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive.
- Strong ability to lead and motivate teams, drive change, and influence at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Proficient in quality management systems, statistical process control, and quality improvement methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex quality concepts to diverse audiences.
Qualifications for the Quality Control Manager Structural T31
- Chartered Quality Professional or equivalent certification is preferred.
- CSWIP certification minimum 3.1.
- Certification in NDE techniques (e.g., Ultrasonic, Radiographic, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant).
- Familiarity with Lloyd's Register Rules, IACS standards, and other relevant naval classification societies.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
