Description
Lodging Allowance is available to eligible military personnel who cannot access single Service accommodation. This allowance helps cover rent and other expenses for those who need to rent private accommodation. Eligibility includes Regular Service Personnel, Military Provost Guard Service personnel, and certain Full Time Reserve Service members not at their permanent duty station. It's also available for those on assignments exempt from Service Family Accommodation or Single Living Accommodation. However, it's not applicable outside the UK.
This allowance can be used to cover rent, utilities, food, travel, and other private rented accommodation expenses. It's paid monthly via salary, and recipients are exempt from certain accommodation and food charges. Agent's fees and security deposits can be claimed back, and advances are available for rent and security deposits.
You cannot claim this benefit if you live in Service accommodation or receive certain other benefits. Claims should be made through the proper channels, depending on access to JPA (Joint Personnel Administration) system.
