Description
This article aims to provide an overview of the various pensions offered by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to widows, widowers, and partners of service personnel. There are three different pension systems in place, leading to unique cases for each individual, making it challenging to determine the correct benefits. If unsure, it is advised to seek help from experts in this field.
The decision as to which scheme applies to you will be driven by: when your souse served, when he/she died, and what caused or contributed to his/her death. The actual amount will also be affected by their rank. All the schemes make payment to “survivors”, that is spouses, recognised partners and dependant children – subject to the rules of each scheme.
This Association has no responsibility for the payment of Pensions, and whilst we are always willing to answer questions we cannot help with individual applications. All queries concerning the payment of individual pensions should be referred to Veterans UK.
