Veterans In Communities: The Vic Choir
Description
The VIC Choir, formerly known as the VIC Singing Group until 2019, gathers on Thursday evenings at the VIC Centre in Haslingden. Rehearsals start at 6.30pm and typically conclude around 8.30pm.
Background: The VIC Choir originated from a member with military band experience and offers numerous therapeutic benefits to individuals and the community. Participating in the choir fosters social connections, provides exercise, reduces isolation, boosts confidence and motivation, enhances self-worth, and brings together both the armed forces and local communities. The concept was introduced to VIC in February 2013 and became an activity in 2014, benefiting members and the local community after VIC took over the Haslingden VIC Centre in November 2013. The VIC Choir has performed at various events in Rossendale, including the Festival of Remembrance in Whitworth, Westbourne residential home, Residential Homes, Haslingden Street Fair, and Whittaker Park.
