Through the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, AAVS has received a grant to hire a sports and outdoors navigator. Dennis's role is to improve opportunities for veterans in Northern Ireland in the realm of sports and outdoor activities. His responsibilities include researching and promoting available activities, connecting veterans with community and veterans' sports and outdoor programs, fostering trust, supporting social prescribing alongside the NHS, reaching out to hard-to-reach veteran groups, and addressing social isolation while promoting community integration and individual resilience. AAVS Sports & Outdoors Navigator collaborates with other veteran support organisations in Northern Ireland, the Arts, Culture, and Heritage Navigator from Walking with the Wounded, and NIVSO to enhance and promote sporting and outdoor activities across the region.
