We are currently recruiting Mechanical & Electrical Technician to Join our Water Production team to work out of our Farmoor water treatment works
As the successful candidate, you will be working in a multi-discipline teams and will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, Plan and reactive, out of hours and emergency maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdown. What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical & Electrical Technician
- Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
- Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
- Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
- Using technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
Base Location: Farmoor - Oxford - OX2 9NS,
Working Pattern : 38 Hours Monday- Friday plus standby and overtime opportunities.
What you should bring to the role
- To be a time-served apprentice with an NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical and electrical qualification
- Experience working in water or a similar industry with skills transferrable from another sector
- 18th Edition would be beneficial but not a requirement but must be willing to obtain during probation
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential
- The work will require physical fitness as you will work in manual handling and often physically demanding roles
- A valid driving licence is essential and all necessary equipment such as tools are provided

- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards

- Competitive salary up to £39,000 per annum depending on skills and experience
- Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training
