Military lifestyle brings a range of exciting opportunities and experiences,however the challenges of military life can be greater when you or a member of your family has an additional need and/or disability. Often families can experience continual mobility, separation, and isolation due to deployment and training and for families who have a family member with an additional need and/ or disability this often has a greater impact on the support they require. This guide intends to inform families about the support that the Ministry of Defence (MOD), Service charities and external organisations can offer to support you. There is a Directory of Support at the end of this guide with links to military and external organisations and charities that can also offer support.
