Council Tax Relief for Qualifying Assignments and Operations

If you're a regular Service personnel, mobilized Reserves, or Full Time Reserve Service personnel who pay Council Tax (or rates in Northern Ireland) or Contributions in Lieu of Council Tax for Service Family Accommodation and are serving on qualifying operations or assignments, you may be eligible for Council Tax Relief. This relief is designed to help cover the cost of Council Tax for those deployed on certain overseas operations. You can claim this relief for each day of your qualifying assignment, and it is paid as a lump sum through your salary. Note that you cannot claim it if you've already arranged a Council Tax discount due to operational deployment. The claim process is handled automatically by your Unit HR/Personnel Office.
